Floating Cloister · A Freelancer's Gathering

Floating, but rooted.

A community for the caregivers of their own work.

Thursday, June 25, 20261:00 PM – 7:00 PM ETFreelancers Hub, Brooklyn, NY

The freelance internet is loud. Most of us aren't.

  • You post less than you produce.
  • You use AI without feeling owned by it.
  • You've stopped explaining why you're not scaling.
  • You want peers — not a coach, not a course.

If that sounds like you, this room was built for you.

Not a course. Not a conference. Not a networking community.

The monthly room

Last Wednesday of every month, starting July 30. 90 minutes online.

One in-person gathering

Brooklyn this year, possibly another city the next.

Long-form letters

Interviews with practitioners we admire, essays on solo work in the AI age.

Members write. Founders curate. The community is the magazine.

The inaugural gathering.

Fifty freelancers. Six hours. One letter.

A place to keep your work — and be seen.

The monthly room is 90 minutes. Your practice is the other 29 days.

Textway's core technology reads the context inside unstructured writing and rebuilds it as a living map — people, ideas, and the threads between them. We're still exploring how it could anchor your practice between meetups; for now, this is that engine, made visible.

Knowledge graph generated by Textway's core technology
  1. 1Tag it

Post a work-in-progress, a pace note, or a question under a tag — no polish required.

  2. 2Get witnessed

Members reply with a single line. Not feedback. Acknowledgment that you were here, working.

  3. 3Keep the thread

Your tags become a running record of the 29 days between rooms — yours to revisit.

#draft
Public Notebook

Tag works-in-progress. Other members react with one line — not critique, witness.

#pace
Pace Journal

Log the week's actual rhythm.

#letter
Letter Threads

Continuations of your December letter.

#ask
Peer Asks

Tagged questions matched to circles, not crowds.

Witness isn't a single afternoon. It's a thread you keep.

The first five voices.

Each chosen for one question they've been quietly answering for years.

One letter, six months.

At 5:00 PM on June 25, each attendee writes a letter — to themselves, six months from now. POPOPO holds those letters, sealed, and mails them on December 22.

The work most freelancers do has no natural marker. Without ritual, the year becomes a blur. This letter is one fixed point.

Six months from now, when you've forgotten what you were thinking on June 25, an envelope will arrive in your handwriting from a version of yourself you may have lost track of. That return is the heart of the gathering.

— from June 25, 2026 to December 22, 2026.
